413 THE ED WYNN SHOW, I (1949)

1. OCTOBER 13, 1949: Ed's guest is a very young Mel Torme. Wynn does a monologue about the new TV medium; sketches include the goings-on at a french restaurant and a record store.
2. OCTOBER 20, 1949: Dinah Shore appears in her first network program, singing a duet with Wynn. Comedy includes a spoof of gymnasiums.
3. DECEMBER 9, 1949: A classic episode with guests Virginia O'Brien and Buster Keaton. In a sketch, Keaton recreates his first silent movie routine.

1. DECEMBER 10, 1949: Ed's guest star is Celeste Holm. Comedy includes Ed fending for himself deep in the heart of Africa, and touring an art museum where celebrities display their paintings.
2. DECEMBER 31, 1949: Guests are Buddy Ebsen and Hattie McDaniel. Ed plays the owner of a pet store, and Buddy comes in looking for an unusual pet; in another sketch, Ed is a door-to-door salesman and encounters everyone's favorite housekeeper, Beulah!
3. FEBRUARY 2, 1950: Garry Moore is the guest. Ed is the proprietor of a diner, who attempts to seat an overweight customer in a small booth with five other people; Garry demonstrates his idea of an entertaining TV program.
4. FEBRUARY 11, 1950: Ed's guests are Ann Sheridan and a very young Robert Clary, who sings (?!) the song that made him famous in the USA (not the theme from "Hogan's Heroes"). In the comedy sketch, after receiving word that Gary Cooper has canceled his appearance, Ann gets his part of a notorious outlaw!

1. FEBRUARY 18, 1950: Vera Vague and John Charles Thomas are the guests. Ed and Vera take a cruise and get shipwrecked on a desert island together.
2. MARCH 25, 1950: Ed pretends he's on a quiz show and tries to guess who the week's guest star is (it's Gloria Swanson). In a sketch, Ed plays a producer who's casting a puppet show.
3. APRIL 8, 1950: Guest Richard Arlen appears in the comedy sketch that has Ed playing a late night TV movie host pitching products as he shows Arlen in typical adventure films that he keeps interrupting with commercials at crucial moments.
4. APRIL 22, 1950: Ed welcomes actress Marie Wilson. Comedy includes Ed as a director who applies himself to the medium of TV by making only OLD movies.
